1. Can anyone help me with the long H answer, please? I had H -g-e-s -I----d
I am not sure about the S. I did have, for the 5 letter V, the words for when the wind direction moves towards the east. I wondered if it was a French name. If so, it would be R instead of S. However, someone on this forum said it was French for goes, and for east - that isn't a name I've ever heard of either!
2. I still haven't got the 7 letter R answer. I have r-l-c-a (or e)
3. Am stuck with the F name.
4. And the G name
5. And the P name - I think these are all in the sw corner
All help gratefully accepted at this stage. I've been struggling with this for almost a week and want to move on!
Happy Christmas all.

Ah, now I see the French for go, goes round the French for East, which give me something more like a name - though not one I know. It also gives me a t at the end of the H clue, which gives me a probable first word, but .... ah yes, now I've got it!
