Can anyone help with these....

32d Silk, not so hard and painful (7) - TUSSORE (Silk)

I get 'Painful' = SORE, but not the rest.

51d Dogs classically getting sticks (5) - CANES or CANIS

There's only a handful of words with this letter pattern, unfortunately one means 'Dogs' (CANIS), and one means 'Sticks' (CANES), and as the wordplay remains a mystery I can't which is correct.

"canis" is singular; "canes" would be nplural dogs.

So =T(H)US+SORE.
