The group is Emerson, Lake and Palmer (How's that for obscure!)

Hi rossim
I've actually got 3 of their CDs - good, if a bit pretentious!

Loved them when I was young but yeah a bit full of themselves. Didn't see them in the answer though, some very convoluted clues in this.

Not enjoying this one - too esoteric. Stuck on last three in NE corner:
7D Wrong 'un gets tortured now and then (6). I've got -N---E. Is it an anagram of ungets?
12A Become registered company in US once name changed to Lambert. (5) I have E----
Lastly, 26D/8A The definitive K9 18 (8). C-E--A--. I assume it's another weird cocktail!

Yes, too quirky for me.

7 starts UN, but you need to get the other letters from elsewhere

12 change a ltter of a notorious US company from N to L

26 the E is wrong
