P.S. andy - got to this unexpectedly early, due to the genius of our greenkeeper. Work scheduled on the greens for Monday and Tuesday had overrun (as always), so we were on temporaries. However he had just hollow-tined these, and the holes made were raised into cones, so it was like playing on a ploughed field. We gave up in disgust after 9.

They were threatening to do ours early but have now decided to use a method which slits the green rather than hollow-tining...apparently this will enable play to continue!

Thanks again, andy. I must be missing something, because I don't see what "cam" has to do with it.

A cam (lobe) like a circle is endless as it drives the valves up and down......I can't find a definition that confirms this as proper usage though......sorry.

Thanks for trying, andy - I remain unconvinced. Very poor clue!

kilgore trout

Any word ending in "P" would work as far as this (agreed, poor) clue is concerned.

So:

Unlimited as "xxxp" without parking

leaves "xxx" which is the original word, lacking its end (ie endless).

I see what you mean, kilgore trout - it remains poor, as you say.
