'Also' = AND, 'about' = RE 'pointless grapes' = vines - E and S = VIN. Not sure about the PRE bit, which is why I put the question marks before my suggestion!!

Sorry, I missed a word from the clue which makes all the difference. I should have said 'Also about early pointless grapes' which explains the pre bit. Sorry if I caused you wasted time!
