Unlike the rest of you I seem to be stuck o 1D Evil soldier turns to relative consumed by whisky. Also 12A Reticient about a French river on the way. Any push in the right direction much appreciated.

Glad you are back with us jazzgirl. I hope you have recovered from last week's virus.

Just had a quick look to confirm that 9d has an incorrect answer.

Not finished yet, so thanks to all for lack of spoilers!

Finished now. Yes, easier than some, but that error in 9d was poor.

Re the spelling error in 9d
I remember having that particular only the once, and have just found the Menu:
I was invited to a Luncheon held on board RMS Queen Elizabeth 2, in Southampton, June 1971. The Menu is large with a beautiful picture of QE2 spreading over the cover, trimmed with a silk cord and tassles.
Then, the menu, printed (not typed) included 6 courses, finishing with the wine (Bin 66) but spelt with NO 'S' !!
So, if it was good enough for Cunard, then maybe the RT setter it was good enough for him/her.

My RT dropped in my door at six o`clock last night ! It must have been wrongly delivered to a neighbour who kindly brought it round, I`m not looking at the help here yet ! Mags,
