Also would appreciate help with parsing 2 down - Fabric husband used for a time to back a ruler (6,3,6). Given the letters we have it seems to be George the second: obviously a ruler, but don't get the fabric bit

georgette is a fabric (change T to for husband)?

2 Down was answered, by someone else - the fabric is Georgette and one 't' is swapped for an 'h' (husband used for time'). Georgethe second. George The Second.
