The second one is 'guide'. To guy is to ridicule and guyed spoken sounds like guide.
I don't know about the other but lean towards 'reddens'because of the tense of the clue.

Another option here could be REDDISH,but this doesn't agree with your existing letters.

My 2 cents for the answer to no. 1 ... redness as I feel it fits the clue very slightly better ... (the answer is 'a shade' & the answer is 'embarrassed').
