I've got Go Pear Shaped for 34 A.

That's certainly the more common phrase. I don't have the crossword I'm afraid.

(blackmail)

32 D, which supplied the 'o' in Go ... is

Blackmail to stay with children's author for speech (4,2,6)

I think the first word has to be Hold (To Ransom) as this fits with the present tense in Blackmail.
