No champagne, no deal!
Is being tall a help to a golfer? It is to a backstroker, apparently and perhaps a tennis player though I can imagine drawbacks there, too.
Have a good day's watching

Good morning, Rusty!
Ah, but you could well have been reading about the Treaty of Utrecht!
I have ceased to be surprised by the range and depth of your reading material!
But now I am intrigued, and shall have to research more about the Succession when I have the time.
I was going to ask why you were hoping for wind with the golf........but Ros beat me to it!
A lovely day here - warm but with a nice breeze.
I am out for lunch today with my old school friend - and also have to go over to Welling to check on our daughter's cat.
We shall feed and water him, change his litter tray, and keep him company for an hour or so. He usually sits on my knee!
A busy day!
How about you? apart from watching the Tour, that is!

Hello, Ros,
Thanks for the update on the bees!
I shall look for any sufferers in our garden and try to remedy matters there, but, as I said before, it is usually in the park where we see them labouring.

Good morning, Pigale !
How are you today!
I am just back from the park - and find everyone up and chatting already!
Warm here, but not by your standards! Maybe early twenties?

Morning Elle, Morning everyone,

Nice start of the day here too, though rather fresh ! around 20c with a light breeze - things will improve in a couple of days.
It should be a very pleasant day for cycling , they are right down in the South and with temps around 25C they won't be too hot.

Hope you have a nice (busy...) day ! Any idea of the restaurant?

PS - not too many bees here either, but quite a few butterflies.

Good morning, Elle!
I know a tiny bit about the Treaty of Utrecht, but my reference to it was an attempt at humour!
It would not be my choice of read!
It is a beautiful day here!
Hope it is the same the "morn's morn" for the golf starting.
Monty is first off at 6.35, so an early start!
I have heard of Welling.
I will watch a bit of the Tour and the practising for the Open today.

Hello, Rosalind,
I do not really think height is an advantage at golf, though the US Open champ, Dustin Johnson, is 6ft 4ins.
Nick Faldo is 6ft 3ins. Jim Furyk is 6ft 2ins.
Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson are 6ft 3ins.
Actually, Bubba's wife, Angie, is taller than him at 6ft 4ins.
She is a Canadian ex basketball player.
Most of the rest of the top players are 6 footish, except for Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler.
Not many bees going about here.

I once "went out" with a Scottish Junior Golf champion (or so he said!). I asked for some second-hand clubs for a birthday. Could not hit the ball, at all. So swapped them for a sewing machine (one of those lovely little Elnas which open out like a flower).
Can't imagine a woman that tall. No M & S clothes for her!

I can't imagine a woman that tall either Ros (nor a man for that matter) - I am just 5ft 1 (and a quarter !)

Hello Rusty,

Just had a peep onto the Tour pre-start programme and apparently the tramontane is blowing up to 45km/h (+/- 30 miles/hour), which could influence he race.

Hello, Pigale,
Yes, I have the cycling on now and the Tramontane is blowing.
Just seen a few riders landing in a ditch.
Not sure if the wind played a part or it was caused by inattention.

Hello, Rosalind,
I saw a photo of the USA wives and best girls all dressed up for dinner at the Ryder Cup. Angie Watson really stood out.
In Angie's case her height is caused by an enlarged pituitary gland. She also can not have children, (she told Bubba this on their first ever date!) so her and Bubba have adopted two children.
Home for them is Florida and I am not so sure if M&S have a store there!
