I have just received a Cross Rolled Gold fountain pen, worth £205 for winning the Sunday Times crossword !

I just wanted to give my thanks to all that have helped me out, on a regular basis, on this site !

Without you, I'm not sure I would win anything !

I buy the Times 6 days of the week and have always sent in a completed copy of the Times Jumbo on Saturday for the past 12 years(sadly without bagging a winner!
However last April , for reasons I cant remember, I bought a copy of the Sunday Times and completed and sent in the crossword for the one and only time and blow me down ,I won the same gold pen!

I have been talking about this in Another Place this morning. Getting the puzzle correct isn't that difficult, ( with help, of course ! )

But getting yours picked out of the hat first is something we don't have much in the way of control over. I have been using pastel envelopes for years, in the hope that it might catch the pickers eyes, but I am not 100% convinced.

Does anybody know how many entries something like the Sunday Times attracts each week ?

I read somewhere a few years ago, that there are approximately 3000 entries each week, so on that basis, it could take me another 50 years before before I strike gold!
