Two that I can't parse......
21A: Old Prime Minister's gone back - to this? (5)
I have 'sleep', which is obviously from Peel's reversed (old PM's gone back)
but can't explain "- to this ?"

14A: Dost thou rate as most highly disagreeable ? (7) to which the answer is 'rankest'= most highly disagreeable (def) - but cannot fathom 'dost thou rate'

Explanations needed please !

Hi elle
I suppose Peel would have had to be woken up from his eternal rest to appear in the clue, so fortunately he has been allowed to go "back to sleep"?

Does thou rank = rankest thou (Elizabethan speech, though I'm not sure they would have used "rank" as a verb)

You are welcome, elle - neither are great clues, I think.
