I don't suppose that this is of any use whatsoever, but there is a book called "The Fourth Man" by an award winning author - of which the 'hero's first name is 'Frank'. However, the surname doesn't fit the number of letters!

Thanks Elle. I had googled The Fourth Man and this threw up four different Franks. I have an answer which now fits crossing clues
