14a is Alderney

Yen red and la (Zola's - ie French - article) backwards.
Had to have a little lie down after getting that one.

Don't have 9a either.

I'm sorry that I don't have that crossword and so do not know what intersecting letters may fit 9 across, but I think the answer could be LENINIST (anagram of IN and SILENT) ??

As it starts with B, then I suggest then anagram of Bolshevik (less the V) ... BLOKEISH.
