8 Yes, Remind - Red, in debt, with 'min', most of 'mine'(writer's).

HE = ambassador: His excellency ?
appeals : calls (reversed) about
shellac: matter on record

12 . HE is His Ecellency, ambassador and it's inside Calls, appeals. Calls is reversed ('about') - so it's S HE LLAC.

I went online to the Times Crossword Club and had a look. Very odd they have one clue different?
I pay for my Times by direct debit and one of the benefits of doing that is, you get free access to the Crossword Club.
I did not know that until five minutes ago!
A quick glance showed there is free access to all the crosswords and other puzzles, and their crossword forums.
Very good indeed!
