17 "unpopular" wouldn't be "in"

I too wish to thank all the contributers to the forum. I found this one very tricky, but you just helped me with the last one - 17d. I can go to bed now!

No rest for me until I get 3d. Exaggerated heading off little rodent write this up in book. ?I?R?T?O. I regret my lack of classical education but am happy the Forum has it.

You need to read it from the bottom upwards. Three letters meaning "exaggerated", then a rodent (often kept as a pet) with the first letter missing. "Book" as in words for an opera.
