I am still having problems with the clue Month for Jews ot the Spanish before Mid-July

The answer is : ELUL

EL (spanish) + UL (mid-July).

It's actually quite easy to work out
el (the, Spanish) + ul (Mid July)

The trouble for most of us is that having done that the answer looks strange!!

Elul is a Summer month in the Jewish calendar, but it doesn't map on to a Gregorian month.
