As a golfer of 26 years and having played in 24 countries, some of which have tigers, I had not heard the term "tiger country" before; you live and learn (except at golf!).

The link I was trying to post referred the usage of the term back to 1968 when Sam Snead used it to describe "heavy rough" terrain
