sorry, this is rubbish.....

So embarrassing lol lol lol --- todays Telegraph --- I had entered the wrong answer this morning (using the plural) and I just saw that I had made an error and it was in fact what jazzgirl said because the down clue at the end now makes sense and I have filled in that clue lol

I think that all of us around are "out" at the moment, jazzy - perhaps if no-one comes up with anything soon, you might declare an "Open" (not that I'm intending to imply that I've solved it yet...........)
