I think these are correct but some of the parsing eludes me..

43a. Essay: what's repeated in it? (6) - THESIS (Essay)

I know 'What' often equates to Eh but I can't see that it's repeated so I think I'm on the wrong track.

48a. What soliloquy passes through endlessly by itself (4,5) - IPSO FACTO (By Itself)

32a. Bar to close as strip clubs open (5) - LATCH (Bar to close)

Thanks Scorpiojo, I hadn't come across 'Lath' before. Maybe the other one is proving so troublesome because I've got it wrong? What do you think?

I think that might be what it is, or very close to it.
