Stuck on last few - 17a, 17d, 21a and 18d and feeling a bit stupid and they're all 3 letter words to which I have the middle letters as N, R, T and E respectively; also seem to have got all the themed clues but just can't make these final connections.

Any help greatly appreciated

starting at 17a - go round clockwise - they spell out another part of the theme - should give you the 4 answers then

Reading round the square gives the theme.
