Could someone please explain the answer to the across clue in the top right-hand corner, which appears to be 'dead as a dodo'. In particular, I cannot understand how tablet comes into the answer, unless it is 'e' for ecstasy tablet.

I think Pops = Dada's.
and Tablet is E(cstacy)

Got it...tablet is asprin...which is acetylsaicylic acid abbreviated in chemistry to ASA...therefore answer is Pops (dead) round tablet AS A...at a party twice DO DO

.....but I could be wrong !

Dead as a dodo/Pops = da(as in dad) round tablet (e)at a party (do) twice

makes more sense than my complicated answer !!
