I'm looking at a very old Guardian clue. The answer has 5 letters. I think that I have T-o-s.
The clue is "Chases the media" (5)

I'd be glad of an answer and explanation. It's from a Crossword by Rover, a former NUT President ( National Union of Teachers) Ian Morgan, who dies some years ago. j

I think that the answer must be 'tools'.
There's a technical sense, to do with making grooves in wood or metal, also a kind of engraving and I suppose that the Media are tools for communicating...

A chaser is a tool for engraving metal.
