18a Oily stuff flier at sea reported. Would someone confirm that the answer is "petrOl" as oily stuff and not "petrEl" - reported flier.

Also 12 down - Give a jerk in street market no opening. I'm think "start" but can't work out where market comes in.

Market = Mart. not opening; take off first letter = art.

Petrol looks right to me.
