I was in too much of a hurry with the answer, but it was still "egotism". The clue was:-"No end of conceit, I get most abused for it". I forgot the end of conceit - t, the extra one.

clue is "No end of conceit, I get most abused for it"
Answer is egotism..conceit but dropping the last letter of conceit (t) from the anagram of "I get most"
