Am I the only one finding this a hard one to crack?

Now I have 29ac, all falling into place!

Embarrassingly, I had all the unclued answers and still struggled with 29ac. Bottom half was a real workout for me, but of course now it all seems obvious. Excellent crossword, I'd say.

You need a synonym for bestow, and think ships rather than royal ladies.

Sorry, I should have said a synonym for "bestow titles."

Even with the clues given I still can't crack 29ac. Some of the answers I have got I'm struggling to fully parse; this is a toughie for me.

Typical! I think d** was the only synonym I didn't think of.
