Cannot get 14 down. Letters I have don't seem to make a word. Clue is "Is wrongdoing admitted by newspapers being goody-goody?" 10 letters . I have
-, -, i, _,s,_,n,_,s_ and I think the first letter is P

Also stuck on 8 down. 4 letters _,e_,t. Clue is "church officer not operating in ecclesiastical office.

Your letters are right for 14d, and it does start with P. Put "newspapers" around "is" and a word for wrongdoing.

Well sext is a pretty unusual word. 8 down was my last one too and it seems a bit tough for the Guardian?
