6d. Fierce person that's good in a row (5) A-G-R
and 8d. Consider employees extremely qualified for a rise (6) D-T-E-.
I have anger and dither but I don't like either, and it makes me wonder whether the across clue supplying the first letter of these two answers is correct.

across clue pattern should be
