Haven't got the newspaper - but it looks like SWAN.
SAN - sanatorium, W - weight & swans can be 'upped' as in swan-upping.

Thanks, Rob and Bullfrog. I'd never heard of swan-upping. It sounds like a vaguely disturbing activity.

Swan Upping is the annual census of the swan population on stretches of the Thames in the counties of Middlesex, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
