Would appreciate some help with the precise parsing for these......

49a. After a little time manoeuvring in convertible, best to reverse - that's the easiest - SOFT OPTION (The easiest) I can see the letters for SOFT TOP (Convertible) and ION, but I'm still missing the exact parsing.

10d. Policeman is doubled over, caught by student, no scholar - COMMISSIONER (Policeman) I think it's 'ISSI' = 'Is Doubled Over' inside 'COMMONER', but why is that 'Student, no scholar'?

Commissioned doesn't work with 'policeman', though.
