Anyone else disappointed by the lack of reference in this puzzle to the 100th birthday? Happy Birthday Crossword!

I'm a bit of a crossword newbie and I'm struggling with the final four clues in the top right-hand corner. Could someone help me with
11a Just starting, son is required to give address to teacher (3). I was thinking of due, fit or apt but cannot parse it!
14a Turns off gas, as one does in kitchen after meal? (5,2), I have D-I--/-- for this but cannot make any sense of it.

Thank you kettledrum and shooty. It seems so obvious now! I have finished that whole corner and therefore the whole crossword *smug*. I also learned a new word, irrupt, which I had never come across before.
