I need these confirmed/corrected and the precise parsing for each...

One who saves blood-covered European army corps in retreat - REDEEMER? (One who saves) If 'Red' = blood-covered + E(uropean) and RE = Army corps - why ME?

Almost think swallowing wine gives an improvement in relations - DETENTE (Improvement in relations)
