Hand was the operative and USB was the little computer gizmo.

PS This WAS to do with the spam - we had loads of the stuff on Husband/Wife, Love Relationships etc. 'Wife' was also an answer in one of my clues.

I was thinking "dongles" and stuff like that, but nothing came to mind.

I'm glad I retrieved the answer - and reasoning! Many of the clues lead to solvers' names, I must have added a bit of variety.

I do not think "husband" for "save" would come to me, Malone.
I was thinking "piggy banks" and "ISA's" etc!

I remember thinking that I had lots of definitions at the beginning, so tried to use the end. I'd seen 'husband - save' in Chambers and thought/hoped it'd catch solvers out. It worked!
