2 interlocking solutions puzzle me: can anyone confirm & explain, or otherwise correct, perhaps?
5a One mishandling gong lecturer's pinned Inside coat (7 letters)-- I have F?*?L?R --- fumbler?
and 6d On top of latke, 10 mushroom (5 letters): I have *?R?L (* same letter as in 5a) -- I have MOREL
(btw 10a if that's relevant is EXTRA: possibly for that reason MORE, but why "L" --- just for "latke"???)
Found the whole thing very puzzling today!

It's now been explained to me, but I must say I find the explanation for "Morel" pretty far-fetched!
An infuriating puzzle, I found!
Let's hope for better next weekend with the double one, tho' it's not going to be Arau (see Guardian website in article on Americanisms).

lecturer = L

Hi GK
I'm in a similar position - I've finished and am fairly confident that all the answers are right, but some of the parsing escapes me.
I though the "coat" in FUMBLER was FUR, an MB was a gong and LE stood for lecturuer? - not confident though.
I was happy with MOREL -it's a mushroom, and MORE is EXTRA on the top of L(atke) (anyw ord starting with L would have done, though.)
