I do appreciate answer - thanks for that. Whilst I would love to put the details you ask for I belong to a cryptic crossword club and we actually dont get any detail just the crossword itself.

What's the name of this club & where do they get their puzzles?

They are out of newspapers but the name of the paper is cut off so there is no clue as to where it is from. I belong to a cryptic crossword group thru a group called U3A (University of the Third Age) which is in Australia

Posting the clue with the letter count & ??s for your unknown letters is just great.

we have the U3A here in the UK too - I believe it started here. My branch doesn`t have a crossword club - it`s a good idea. Mags.
