Hannibal or cannibal

The clue is "people fill him with consuming interest"

I am inclined to go for Hannibal but would like your ideas thanks.

I would go for cannibal - "people fill him" - he eats them

I think you are probably right, chrisg, but there is also one specific "Hannibal" (Lecter) who eats people.
