A friend has asked me about a book to help solve cryptic crosswords, with all the "conventions". Any recommendtions please?

Thanks Chris. I have done what he suggests and looked at the reviews on Amazon.
I guess it is down to personal preference, except the book that gets 5 stars or only 1
