8d Put up with foot of slime,Its more than an inch.

Looks like styx or skye to me but I can't get the resoning,any help gratefully received

An inch in Scotland is a small island. Skye is a big island?

Sky is to 'put up'/toss in the air and the 'foot of slime' is the 'e', last letter.
And Skye is definitely bigger than an inch.

up = sky + foot of slim(e)
