Back to business.
Found this Jumbo rather a tussle Had a little help from Forumites ( or should that be Forumees)

Is there a golfing ref there PAR ONES (cannot be bettered???

Well I am no Gloffer myself, but I presumed a Par 1 cannot be bettered, we shall see.

There is no such thing as a par 1 I'm afraid the lowest is a par 3.

A hole in 1 would be impossible to beat and pars might be described as features of the course!

It's possible that the compiler isn't a golfer either, so doesn't understand the terminology.


btw for other golfers - I have only seen three, all by an opponent at the time, and each time I was giving him a stroke at the hole - impossible to equal, let alone beat!

Not a golfer but par is the standard score for any hole so at a par 3' getting a 2 means "beating" par by one. A par one would thus require a score of zero to beat par. Without handicap s being taken into account this is impossible.
