Yes, Sorry Chrise, I did mean 16ac. And thanks for 8ac. It was one of the words I had found but could not see how it fitted. ( Like Cantersue, I had “alert” as a possible alternative)

5d Name of a University in USA (first 6 letters son of a King perhaps, last 3 letters a hundredweight.
