I am thinking of spud for the potato which would give pud for the salad. How about it?

I am thinking Peg basket, or bucket or casket.
The last letter of the first word is the possible G from 22d
The second letter of the second word is possibly U from 15d if it is spud.

Thanks guys . I have not heard of a pay packet being called a screw. Must be an English thing.
