Was this repeated pattern spoilt rendering sepia pattern?
I have SAR*A and **APEKING but wonder if KAKA is right?

30 ac is, I believe, SORRA so 31 is SHAPENING. As ever very strange words.

31 = diapering

In 28d, what has 'Sorra' to do with Goodman? In 31a, what has 'Shapening' to do with any part of the clue? And if 28d is 'Dona', not'Kaka', what has it to do with karaka?

31 Shapening was/is wrong - 'diapering' was given as the correct answer.
28 D. Is not 'dona' - it is 'kora'. (k or a being the outside letters of 'karaka'.)

Diapering I can see is repeated pattern, but I cannot see the rest of the wordplay...

I settled for 'diapering' because it fitted! I saw on another site that it's because 'sepia drawing' is an anagram of 'was diapering'. The clue has the 'was' at the beginning and if you put in diapering (where the clue says 'this'), then you have the phrase /two words.

Thanks Malone. I had considered a 'subtractive anagram' but didn't spot the 'Was as the opening of the clue.
