6 down, Increased in intensity, (5,2) and I've got a-p-d-p . I'd have said 'ramped up' but that's one too many letters; especially as the cryptic clue says 'Excited with current measure by editor on a higher floor'. Is 'amped up' a phrase (not one I've heard of).

"Amped up" could be a phrase an electrician uses.

Extrapolating from chris's post - I would say the slang comes from AMPhetamine. Amped up as I have heard it used refers to some one or thing in an agitated state, usually under the influence of something - or just *really* excited.

Thank you for that, all of you; 'amped up' it is, then. As I say not a phrase I knew but I do now. I can now count my 'i' s and enter. Good luck to all of you.
