Alternative clue to 45dn - 'second only to tatum'?

I've had to do some crossers. So far I have
45d second letter E
38d fourth letter S

am I ok so far?

It's non-stop calls here. That's why I wait until Sundays when it's usually peaceful ! Now have 38d ???,S?E????
and 45d ?E?R????

Still none the wiser.....

Your excitement is leading up blind alleys. Your E in 38 down and your R in 45 down are the right letters in the wrong place!

I'm no where near excited :( I haven't printed the blank grid off yet, as the original is completed with the Times2. So I am scribbling on notepad, interrupted by these friends who insist on chatting ! Grrrrr,.....

Sorry to say no nearer and I have to do dinner, so will have to wait until the morrow. I haven't solved the crossers.

Just solved 45d after seeing more letters on docrum's thread. hurray
