I think it's - Debtors confession = I O + Passed On = DIDE Broadcast ie. Homonym and Definition is 'Compound'.

And also the cryptic part of "world" please -- ie "used to cross river". River is presumably the "r", but what is "wold"?

E W - Bridge team (east/west)
OLD - used
R - crossing R for River

Hi Tony, I think it's - Def. = Never + 'Lifting' Load = TON (backwards + FORTH + Bridge Team = E(ast) and W(est) + Used To = OLD + R(iver)
