Hey everybody,
here are three clues from older Times Crosswords where I do not understand how to get to the answers:

“Casanova succeeded splitting couple? (5,3) – LADY'S MAN”
I assume "couple" stands for LADY and MAN. Can "succeeded" stand for "S"?

"Powerful tractor, perhaps, one you can depend on (5,2,8) - TOWER OF STRENGTH"

"Boy in blue votes for Green term (5,4) - SALAD DAYS"
"Boy" could be AL, "blue" SAD, but how would "votes" and DAYS be related then?

I would very much appreciate your help!

1. S is sometimes used in crosswords for 'succeeded'.

2 A tractor is something that tows ( so is a 'tower').

3 I think it's 'lad', for boy, 'sad' for blue and 'ays' for votes.
