Here's one I've been scratching my head about:-
4 Down - "Town in Cornwall has different one
in Staffs". (6) S-A-E-
There is no town in Cornwall to fit, although
there is a village called Seaton (also a town in
Devon, of course), But, even so, it wouldn't fit.
Don't know anything about towns in
Staffordshire, unless, maybe, the answer is
based on "staffs", as in "supplies a workforce".
I hope that my "E" is correct, but even without
this, I cannot think what the answer is!

One in crosswords is either i or a, so if you change a for i in St Ives (in Cornwall) you get staves which are staffs?

Thanks Andyc and AB - what a goddam awful
clue, but you are both right! I thought it was a
play on the word "Staffs" (staffs) but I wasn't
thinking of the correct meaning!
