ginge - I'm still don't see the parsing of 17A in Times Cryptic 1037. Is "natch" supposed to mean "nick" (in any of its senses, e.g. prison, steal, cut, etc.)? I could understand the clue if "s" was to be removed from "snatch", but the clue does not appear to indicate this.
Please explain.

I think it's Notch, for 'nick' and White for 'spiritually pure'. So 'notch white' then becomes watchnight (swapping over the first letters) . I think in Spoonerisms it's the sound that matters, so it doesn't matter that the 'o' in notch becomes an 'a' in watch.
