Sorry, Wally. I just read the end part of your post. Hopefully, you will have given up at the end of the first line.

Thanks Pipesmoker!
Obviously everyone else is more educated than I am.
But don't try it as a word when you are playing Scrabble: It's not in the Family Scrabble Dictionary

Can s'one help out on the programme in 14a? I have the first name & every 2nd letter of the second, but I suspect I've never heard of it. How do blond & casualty fit in? It's my last, of course.

Hi GK
Translate "blond" into English for the second word, then Google (that's what I did)

Thanx, chris --- you were there at the right time! Didn't find this one too rewarding.
In case it cheers you up, btw, we're having AWFUL weather here, due to continue at least another 10 days; temperatures TEN degrees (C) below the seasonal average!

Here too, GK - forecast today gives weekend possibility of snow as far south as the Chilterns. Mainly grey and cold here, but not wet, thankfully.

Greedy Kite - you aked how `casualty` fitted in. It`s the name of the programme - 14 ac is a character. I gave up watching when I had an operation. Patients in it always seem to have a huge crisis on the operating table! It`s like watching a film about a plane crash when you are about to fly ! M.

The best I can come up with for 16a is GINGERY POKERS! What a rubbish answer!
