This is the reason I always inform the clue setters in the Joint Effort whether a clue is DOWN or ACROSS, because this clue couldn't work as an Across clue
a country = a Chad (country in Africa)
Written downwards and then raise the (D)aughter to the top to give 'Dacha'
It's a part &lit because 'country' is part of the wordplay to give 'Chad' and a 'Dacha' is a country house in Russia.
So 'Country' is used twice making it the &lit part of the clue.
